This is my first post and I'm super excited! My plan for posts is to actually upload step by step pictures of the process, but I've already made this project so I'm just going to briefly explain how I made it. So a little background on why I made it. (Skip to next paragraph if you don't feel like reading this.) So my boyfriend is a volunteer firefighter in my area and he is leaving for the Air Force in a couple days! :( His birthday is also a week after he leaves. So I made him this as a going away and birthday present.
Supplies: -Any surface you want your string art to go on (I recommend something that has sides so if you hang it up, the nails won't be going into the wall)
-String in the color(s) of your choice
-Little nails and a hammer
-Template or if you'd like to design it yourself go right ahead!
-Glue gun and tape
-Paint or anything else you'd like to use to add something special to your string art
Directions: This is a pretty simple project, but it is a time consuming one depending on the size of your string art. Draw out your design or print one. Tape your design to the wood and begin hammering in nails along the outside of all the shapes in your design. Next, tie your string to one of the nails, cut off the extra and hot glue the knot so it won't come undone. For the actual string design, you can just start wrapping string randomly, or you can map out how you want the string to go. I went in a sort of zig zag pattern with my string. once you are done, tie the string to a nail and repeat the cutting and glueing. Add anything you'd like to personalize your design, and you're done! Pretty simple but awesome looking project. If you have any questions on this project, please feel free to email me on the About page.
